Overview

We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect to help shape and evolve our client's enterprise technology landscape. This role will play a key part in assessing current architecture capabilities, defining future-state solutions, and developing transformation roadmaps that support strategic business objectives.

 

With a particular focus on data, analytics, AI, and digital transformation, the successful candidate will provide architectural leadership across business, application, data, and technology domains. They will work closely with senior stakeholders to ensure technology investments align with organisational goals while establishing data as a strategic asset that drives innovation and business value.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assess and document current-state enterprise architecture across business, application, data, and technology domains.
  • Identify architectural strengths, risks, technical debt, duplication, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop enterprise architecture baselines, maturity assessments, and target-state architectures.
  • Conduct discovery workshops with business and technology stakeholders to understand existing capabilities, systems, and processes.
  • Evaluate enterprise data platforms, governance models, operating frameworks, and data maturity.
  • Define data and technology strategies that support analytics, AI, and business transformation initiatives.
  • Develop architecture roadmaps, investment priorities, and modernisation plans.
  • Create architecture principles, standards, governance frameworks, and reference architectures.
  • Support cloud migration, application rationalisation, and digital transformation programmes.
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement sessions and communicate architectural recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ensure technology decisions align with organisational strategy, governance requirements, and regulatory obligations.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.
  • TOGAF certification or equivalent enterprise architecture certification is highly desirable.
  • Cloud architecture certifications would be advantageous.
  • Data and analytics-related certifications are beneficial.

Essential skills

Enterprise Architecture

  • Strong experience developing enterprise architecture strategies, operating models, and transformation roadmaps.
  • Deep understanding of Business, Application, Data, Technology, and Security Architecture disciplines.
  • Experience conducting enterprise architecture assessments and current-state reviews.
  • Ability to develop capability maps, architecture artefacts, and reference models.

Data & Analytics

  • Strong understanding of enterprise data management and modern data architecture principles.
  • Experience with data platforms, data lakes, data warehouses, analytics platforms, and AI-enabled architectures.
  • Knowledge of Data Governance, Data Quality, Metadata Management, Master Data Management, and Data Engineering.
  • Experience developing enterprise data strategies and transformation programmes.

Cloud & Modern Technology Platforms

  • Strong understanding of cloud-native and hybrid architecture patterns.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Azure and modern data platform technologies.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Services, API-led architectures, and event-driven design patterns.

Architecture Frameworks

  • Practical experience with recognised enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman, ArchiMate, Gartner Enterprise Architecture Framework, or Capability-Based Planning methodologies.

Experience

  • Significant experience operating as an Enterprise Architect or Lead Architect within complex enterprise environments.
  • Proven track record of assessing enterprise technology landscapes and defining future-state architectures.
  • Experience supporting large-scale transformation, modernisation, cloud migration, or digital transformation programmes.
  • Strong stakeholder management experience with the ability to engage and influence senior business and technology leaders.
  • Experience working within regulated industries such as Financial Services, Insurance, Utilities, Telecommunications, or the Public Sector would be advantageous.
  • Background in data strategy, analytics, AI, and cloud transformation initiatives is highly desirable.
  • Typically 10+ years of architecture experience with a strong focus on enterprise-scale change and transformation.
