Overview

As a Senior Business Analyst, you will play a key role in defining, analysing, and documenting complex business requirements across technology‑driven initiatives. Working closely with cross‑functional teams, you will translate business needs into clear user stories, data mappings, and actionable solution recommendations. This role demands strong analytical capability, confident stakeholder engagement, and the ability to operate independently in fast‑paced, Agile‑focused environments.

This role is fully onsite in Dublin.

Responsibilities

  • Elicit, analyse, and document detailed business requirements, identifying business needs and recommending effective solutions.
  • Create accurate data mapping from source to target systems to support integration, migration, and system design activities.
  • Evaluate requirements for compatibility with existing system functionality and define user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Break down complex issues into structured, actionable steps for delivery teams.
  • Assess downstream and post‑production impacts of delivered requirements and identify any implications for stakeholders.
  • Manage and coordinate stakeholder involvement throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring clarity and alignment.
  • Support solution validation activities, ensuring delivered functionality meets documented business objectives.
  • Work collaboratively within Agile teams, contributing to refinement sessions, sprint planning, and delivery activities.
  • Provide subject‑matter expertise to development, QA, and product teams to ensure a shared understanding of requirements.

Essential skills

  • Familiarity with payment industry standards and experience with authorisation and/or clearing systems.
  • Knowledge of the financial services or payments domain, including transaction processing, transaction pricing, and scheme fee structures.
  • Strong experience working within Agile methodologies (ideally SAFe), including hands‑on use of tools such as JIRA for features, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • 5–6 years of business analysis experience with the ability to translate complex problems into structured solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders, SMEs, developers, and testers.
  • Proven ability to work independently, adapt to shifting priorities, and drive clarity in ambiguous situations.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to assess impacts, identify risks, and manage dependencies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including creation of BRDs, solution scopes, process documentation, and data‑driven artefacts.
  • Ability to thrive in dynamic project environments and work effectively across cross‑functional teams.

Desired skills

  • Experience in transaction workflow modelling and supporting software development processes.
  • SQL scripting capabilities to support analysis, data validation, or investigation.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with a proactive approach to learning new technologies and business domains.
  • Ability to interpret complex data sets and communicate insights clearly to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Experience

  • Demonstrated experience producing high‑quality business requirements, user stories, process flows, data mappings, and related documentation.
  • Experience collaborating with engineering, QA, and product teams across full delivery lifecycles.
  • Prior involvement in data‑driven or transaction‑heavy environments is advantageous.
  • Track record of contributing effectively within Agile delivery teams, including refinement, estimation, and solution validation.
  • Experience assessing impacts across business processes and ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.
