Overview

The role of a Non-Functional Test Lead is to effectively lead the Non-Functional project testing effort and be accountable for any Non-Functional Test related activity for projects. Manage both current projects and future projects. Feed into centralised projects review meetings to update stakeholders on status of projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor team of performance/Non-Functional testers, providing cover and advice as required.
  • Research, propose and implement Non-Functional process improvement.
  • Review test coverage.
  • SME of systems-under-test at client.
  • Report performance status to the test team and project management.
  • Implement Non-Functional Test standards within the client site and for the Non-Functional Test team.
  • Report Non-Functional Test project status to project managers, change management and release management during regularly scheduled meetings.
  • Provide Non-Functional Test status to test manager on a regular (i.e. twice-weekly, weekly, bi-weekly) basis.
  • Provide input into the Enterprise Test Strategy as it relates to Non-Functional Tests.
  • Input into templates and processes as it relates to the approved Non-Functional Test approach.
  • Plan and track Non-Functional Test projects and resources.
  • Review test documentation prepared by the Non-Functional Test team for correctness and consistency.
  • Contribute to initial assessment of in-scope Non-Functional Test projects, including reviewing previous project lessons learned and providing early estimate and H-L timelines.
  • Preparation of Non-Functional test plan for each in-scope project and review test plans prepared by the Non-Functional Test team.
  • Preparation and/or review of script development tracker for each product per project.
  • Preparation or review of cases/scripts for each product per project to ensure testers are following scripting standards and meeting non-functional requirements.
  • Preparation and/or execution of tests in the absence of available NFT test analyst resources.
  • Leading escalation meetings in the event of a project missing deadlines or issues encountered that require careful attention to mitigate.
  • Creation of Non-Functional Test project closure reports.
  • Lead Non-Functional Test team project reviews, including lessons learned, upon completion of the Non-Functional Test Closure Report.
  • If architect is not available, represent Non-Functional Test team in client strategic reviews and early visibility into strategic projects.
  • If architect is not available, represent Non-Functional Test in vendor presentations of products.
  • Keep up-to-date on each of client’s in-scope products and projects and reassess coverage on a regular basis.
  • Review Non-Functional Test tools on a periodic basis and plan for proof of concepts as required.
  • Feed into monthly Expleo senior management meetings.

Qualifications

  • Tools expertise, such as LoadRunner, JMeter, Neoload, Zap, SonarQube, Fortify, JAWS, Wave, Axe, pCloudy, BrowserStack or other relevant tools, along with knowledge of automation frameworks.beneficial.
  • Ability to deliver quality documentation & reports – status reports, test plans, test cases, bug tracking reports, risk assessment and root cause analysis reports.
  • Knowledge of systems under test, such as Oracle, SAP, O365, WebSphere, WebLogic and Web Services (REST).
  • Strong knowledge of SDLC and software test methodologies, tools and processes.
  • Solid understanding of how the client’s technical stack is implemented (such as load balancer, routers, firewalls, cloud and containerisation, database, web and application servers).
  • Experienced with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SQL.
  • Excellent problem solving & organizational skills.
  • Experience analysing performance test results in great detail, including interpreting application and system logs.
  • Ability to obtain detailed diagnostics at the application, middleware and database levels.
  • Solid experience with ALM or Jira (creating test cases and raising defects).

  • Ability to prepare execute scripts in UFT, SOAP UI and other automation tools and languages.
  • Ability to incorporate Non-Functional Test automation into DevOps pipelines.
  • Gain an understanding of all 34 Non-Functional Test areas, and be able to test at least one other Non-Functional Test attribute.
  • Understanding and ability to fulfil multiple roles on Agile teams.
  • Experience testing in a Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
